Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) reflect the circumstances in which people are born, grow, live, learn, work, and age, and are shaped by a set of forces beyond personal control.
They are extrapolated from their origins in Structural Determinants and include material circumstances, psychosocial and behavioral characteristics as well as working conditions, pay, access to housing, education and medical care.
At the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
• Understand Basic SDOH Principles and Concepts
• Discuss the impact of SDOH on staff satisfaction, patient care and health outcomes
• Review the importance of SDOH data to affect positive change
• Consider the future of SDOH and relevant data to improve healthcare services
AVERAGE STUDY TIME: 2-3 Hours
AUDIENCE AND APPROVALS: This program is intended as a compliance course of study for providers, medical staff and students in healthcare programs. It is approved for 2.0 national continuing education credits for nurses, physicians/PAs and dental professionals.
