WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Certificate of Veterinary Compassionate Care Proficiency (CVCCP)
End-of-life care for pets and compassionate work with pet owners is an important category of veterinary medicine that requires a comprehensive understanding of social and emotional communication. This workshop details recommendations for providers at all levels of veterinary service to employ when addressing this common and yet complicated area of care.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Understand the definitions and conditions of compassionate care
• Outline best practices of communication during end-of-life cycles
• Describe recommended structures and optional referrals for animal comfort
• Discuss provider and owner health and wellness as it relates to end-of-life emotions
• Outline optimal structure of a compassionate care program in a standard veterinary site
CREDENTIALS: This session includes access to self-paced online course materials, a downloadable 4VetCE PDF certificate and professional course seal. Accompanying materials for this program are pending approval by the AAVSB RACE to offer a total of 1.25 CE Credits.
WORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR
Jocelyn Mason, DVM
Dr. Mason holds a DVM degree and a Bachelors degree in Animal Sciences from the University of New Hampshire. She is also an experienced educator, lecturing at veterinary universities on topics of Compassion Fatigue and Improving the Euthanasia Experience. Jocelyn's 4VetCE training programs have been RACE approved for credit.
APPROVALS: At completion of the workshop, learners will receive access to the workshop recording, materials and assessment. Upon successful completion of the final exam they will receive a Certificate of Veterinary Compassionate Care Proficiency (CVCCP) that has been reviewed and approved by the 4MedPlus Medical and Technical Advisory Boards and carries RACE credit.
